With Jesus I am Never Alone

Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
~ Mark 9:8

Peter, James, and John saw a glimpse of heaven–Jesus allowed his glory as God to be seen, Moses and Elijah miraculously appeared, and God the Father’s praise majestically echoed from the cloud! (Mark 9:2-8). But the next moment everyone was gone, everyone except Jesus, who was once more in his familiar form, all his glory hidden…but he was still there.

Have you ever experienced a brief period of time when everything in your life seemed wonderful? You were happy because God was good and his blessings were clearly evident. But, suddenly everything changed and your life was filled with chaos and you felt very alone. Although we may suffer disappointment, loneliness, and emptiness at times, we need to understand that we are truly never alone.

As Christians, we can be certain of Jesus’ presence in our lives because he said, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20). This tells us that there is never a time when we are alone. He is always there to guide us with his Word. He is always there to comfort us with his love. He is always there to encourage us with his promises.

Jesus death and resurrection assures us that neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:39).

When we remember Jesus’ faithful promises, his precious work, and his undeserved love for us, we can live with complete certainty and peace. With Jesus we are never alone, even until our last breath…and then forever!

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, I fear no foe or death if you are with me. In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me!
